I sat down on the edge of the stage and took off my socks and shoes.
I stepped onto the stage and stood motionless, facing slightly to one side, with a glass of water in my right hand. I waited until all the noise had died down.

I bent forward very slowly a few times until all the water had spilled onto the floor.

I then grabbed a bucket and a mop and mopped up the spilled water.
Once I’d finished, I put the things away, sat down on the edge of the stage and put my socks and shoes back on.
 

I dreamt
I was floating on my back in the water,
my lungs full of air, my arms and legs
hanging limply by my sides.
 

I exhaled and slowly sank
until I could go no further,
motionless on the bottom.
