Both sides of the bridge

In the shade, the water flows toward the bridge, and
in the sunshine, the water flows away from the bridge.

Trajectory
On November 22 at noon,
C and I meet at the Puente de Hierro.
We start walking together in the same direction,
and describe to each other what we notice around.

As we talk, I call C from my mobile and she picks up.
Together we continue walking, speaking through the phone and,
at the same time, slightly shifted, we can hear each other side by side.

We separate and go in different directions.
We now only hear and speak to each other through our phones.
Our conversation continues, we exchange what we perceive.

We compare our visual observations,
to find descriptions we both recognise,
to orient ourselves to where we can meet again.

The moment we meet,
we disconnect the phone call,
and walk on, side by side.

In collaboration with Ceola Tunstall-Behrens.

Spill (2021)
At the Río Segura I filled a glass with water, and with that I walked up the mountain. I stopped at a spot from where I had a clear view of the valley and the river below.
With the glass in my hand, I bent down slowly and repeatedly, synchronised with my breathing. With each bending movement, water spilled from the glass onto the ground.
The work was finished when the glass was empty.

This is a revised version of the work Spill,
performed in Taksim Gezi Park, Istanbul (2013).

Empathic exercise

I walked beside the river,
adjusting constantly my steps to the speed of the current.

By following the slowing down and speeding up of the water,
I was guided equally by the shape of the bed of the stream,

by its width and its depth.
