A Scene #30: a street where no one speaks

Op vrijdag 20 augustus tussen 13:00 en 17:00 uur werden de gebruikers van de Neißstraße (tussen Weberstraße en Uferstraße) in Görlitz (D) persoonlijk benaderd en verzocht in de straat niet te spreken of enig ander lawaai te maken. Er werden kleine kaartjes uitgedeeld met de volgende teksten in het Duits en Pools:
“Liebe FuBgängerin, lieber FuBgänger,
Heute, am 20. August, ist diese StraBe ein Ort der Stille. Bitte tragen Sie dazu bei, indem Sie während
lhren Spaziergang nicht sprechen oder Lärm machen. Wir danken lhnen herzlich für Ihr Engagement."

Dziś, 20 sierpnia, ulica ta jest miejscem ciszy. Prosimy o nie rozmawianie i nie halasowanie podczas spaceru. Dziękujemy za Państwa zaangażowanie."
Mijn assistent en ik werkten elk aan een kant van de straat. Bij elkaar deelden we ongeveer 350 kaartjes uit en hadden evenzoveel kleine gesprekken.
A Scene #30 was een onderdeel van het STRE!FEN performance festival in Görlitz-Zgorzelec (D/PL).

On Friday 20 August, between 1pm and 5 pm, users of Neißstraße (between Weberstraße and Uferstraße) in Görlitz (D) were personally approached and asked not to speak or make any noise in the street. Small cards were handed out with the following texts in German and Polish:
“Liebe FuBgängerin, lieber FuBgänger,
Heute, am 20. August, ist diese StraBe ein Ort der Stille. Bitte tragen Sie dazu bei, indem Sie während

My assistant and I each worked on one side of the street. Together we handed out about 350 cards and had as many small talks.

La Biennale de Momon - Symposium
|
|
|
Op zondag 19 september, 's middags van 14:00 tot 17:00 uur, vindt het afsluitende Symposium van La Biennale de Momon plaats in het auditorium van het Dordrechts Museum in Dordrecht.
La Biennale de Momon is als concept ontstaan in het dorpje Maumont in het zuidwesten van Frankrijk. Maumont is, zoals veel oude dorpen, de laatste decennia ingrijpend veranderd. Hoewel de plaats dezelfde fysieke structuur heeft behouden, is er van de oorspronkelijke sfeer weinig overgebleven. Het contrast tussen de materiële continuïteit en de verandering in gebruik en sfeer vormde de aanleiding voor het opzetten van dit project.
De negen kunstenaars die aan het project deelnemen zijn Sarah Boulton, Lisa Skuret, Marc Buchy, Martine Viale, Josh Schwebel, Joan Heemskerk, Susana Mendes Silva, Elia Torrecilla en Frans van Lent. Vanwege Covid konden de meeste van de geplande residencies in het dorp niet doorgaan. Alle werken zijn op afstand tot stand gekomen en hebben een eigen plek gekregen op de gezamenlijke online locatie Momon.fr.
Alle kunstenaars hopen op het symposium aanwezig te zijn om presentaties in woord en beeld te geven. Sommigen zullen ook performen. Naast deze presentaties zijn er twee gastsprekers uitgenodigd, die op het thema van de Biënnale zullen reflecteren, in relatie tot hun eigen professionele ervaringen.
Tijdens dit symposium zullen de meeste deelnemers elkaar voor het eerst in levende lijve ontmoeten. Het is mogelijk dat sommigen uiteindelijk toch niet aanwezig kunnen zijn, vanwege nieuwe Covid-maatregelen. In dat geval zullen hun presentaties plaatsvinden via video-opnamen of een live-verbinding.
Vanwege de internationale gastenlijst zullen de presentaties Engels gesproken zijn.
De toegang tot het symposium is gratis, maar uitsluitend op reservering.

On Sunday 19 September, in the afternoon from 2 pm to 5 pm, the concluding Symposium of La Biennale de Momon will take place in the auditorium of the Dordrecht Museum in Dordrecht, Netherlands.
La Biennale de Momon originated as a concept in the village of Maumont in the southwest of France. Maumont, like many old villages, has changed dramatically in recent decades. Although the place has retained the same physical structure, little has remained of its original atmosphere. The contrast between the material continuity and the change in use and atmosphere was the reason for setting up this project.
The nine artists participating in the project are Sarah Boulton, Lisa Skuret, Marc Buchy, Martine Viale, Josh Schwebel, Joan Heemskerk, Susana Mendes Silva, Elia Torrecilla and Frans van Lent. Because of Covid, most of the planned residencies in the village could not take place. All works were created remotely and have been given their own place on the joint online site Momon.fr.
All artists hope to be present at the symposium to give presentations in word and image. Some will also perform. Besides these presentations, two guest speakers have been invited, who will reflect on the theme of the Biennial in relation to their own professional experiences.
During this symposium, most of the participants will meet each other in person for the first time. It is possible that some will not be able to attend after all, due to new Covid measures. In that case, their presentations will take place via video recordings or a live connection.
Due to the international guest list, the presentations will be in English.
Entrance to the symposium is free but by reservation only.

De Rockbottom is een fotografische print voor een speciale prijs, die onderaan elke nieuwe mailing wordt gepresenteerd.
Het werk is gedrukt in de afmetingen 22,5 x 30 cm in Fine Art kwaliteit op Hahnemühle Photo Rag (310 gr). Het werk wordt deze print op een Dibond achterwand gemonteerd en voorzien van een ophangsysteem.
Het werk kost € 220 inclusief BTW, exclusief verzendkosten. De oplage wordt bepaald door het aantal bestellingen tot twee weken na de mailing.

The Rockbottom is a photographic print at a special price, presented at the bottom of every new mailing.
